This product is white or offwhite crystalline powder, odorless or with little special disagreeable odor; with hygroscopicity; easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in fatty oil and paraffin wax. It is the produce of first crystallization of 6-phenylacetyl aminopenicillanic sylvine.

It has good effect to GPB and some GNB, and is highly sensitive to staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus, pneumococcus and gonococcal. It is widely used in the production of semisynthetic penicillin, and is the material of a series of penicilin further processed products such as ampicillin, amoxicillin and cephalosporins.
